Master of Education in History (Full Time)


Programme Outline


Duration: This programme runs for 2 semesters


Entry requirements: The programme is open to candidates with:

(a)    Bachelor’s degree in Education in relevant areas with minimum of Second Class Lower from the University of Lagos or any other recognised University; or

(b)   Bachelor’s (honours) degree in various disciplines other than Education who also possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Lagos or any other recognised University; or

(c)    Bachelor’s degree in various disciplines other than Education with minimum of Second Class Lower with not less than five years’ experience in reputable Curriculum Development Agency may apply.

(d)   Candidates for M.Ed. Early Childhood Education Programme who have no Early Childhood Education background will be required to possess Bachelor’s (honours) degree and Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Education from the University of Lagos.

(e)    Holders of any degree less than a Second Class honours degree, e.g. “Third Class” or “Pass” degree are NOT qualified to apply.

To be eligible for the Master of Education in History at University of Lagos, you must hold a recognized Bachelor's degree and meet the general admission and program-specific requirements. Key requirements include having a recognized first degree, submitting transcripts and NYSC certificate, and passing a departmental selection process, as well as the general postgraduate entrance exam.

Program-specific requirements for M.Ed. History
  • Bachelor's Degree: A relevant Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Selection Process: You may be required to undergo a selection process determined by the department. 
General application process
  1. Visit the Portal: Go to the University of Lagos Postgraduate Portal and click "APPLY".
  2. Check Eligibility: Verify your eligibility for the M.Ed. History program.
  3. Pay Application Fee: Generate a payment reference number and pay the application fee.
  4. Complete Application: Log in with your reference number and complete the application form.
  5. Upload Documents: Upload all required documents, including your degree certificate, NYSC certificate, and passport photograph.
  6. Submit Application: Submit your application before the deadline.
