Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling (Full Time)

Programme Outline

Duration: This programme runs for 2 semesters

Entry requirements

The programme is open to candidates with:

(a) Bachelor’s (honours) degree in Education from any recognised University; or

(b) Bachelor’s degrees in any other discipline and must possess either Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or the Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling (PGD G&C)

To be admitted into the University of Lagos's Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling (Full Time), you generally need a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with at least a Second Class (Upper Division), a minimum CGPA of

for those with a postgraduate diploma, or a relevant postgraduate diploma with a CGPA of

or higher. In addition, you must have the required O'Level credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, and the NYSC certificate or an exemption. 

Academic requirements 

• Bachelor's Degree: A recognized Bachelor's degree from the University of Lagos or another recognized university, with at least a Second Class (Upper Division).
• Postgraduate Diploma: A postgraduate diploma with a minimum CGPA of

is also an option, especially if you have a Second Class (Lower Division) undergraduate degree.

• Other qualifications: Other relevant postgraduate qualifications might be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

O'Level requirements 

• You must have five credit passes in the O'Level (SSCE/GCE/NECO) including English Language and Mathematics at no more than two sittings.
• Specific requirements for the Guidance and Counseling program may also require credits in subjects like Social Sciences, Arts, or Science. 

Other mandatory requirements 

• NYSC Certificate: You must provide evidence of NYSC certificate, exemption, or exclusion.
• Transcripts: Academic transcripts from your undergraduate and postgraduate programs must be sent directly to the School of Postgraduate Studies on or before the registration deadline.
