A full-time Master of Education in Educational Psychology is a postgraduate degree program, typically lasting up to 24 months, that focuses on applying psychological theories to educational settings. The curriculum often covers areas like cognitive development, motivation, learning processes, and assessment. Graduates can pursue careers such as institutional researcher, test developer, instructional coordinator, or educational program evaluator.
Program focus
  • Core subjects: The program integrates psychology and education, exploring topics such as how students learn, what motivates them, and how to develop effective assessments.
  • Two streams: Some programs may offer different specialization streams, such as becoming an educational psychologist or focusing on counselling.
  • Career paths: The degree can lead to various roles, including those in educational program evaluation, training and development, and institutional research.
Eligibility and structure
  • Prerequisites: A bachelor's degree is generally required, often with a minimum of a 2:2 (or equivalent) in any subject, though some programs may prefer a degree in a related field.
  • Course duration: A full-time program is typically completed in up to 24 months.
  • No prior psychology knowledge needed: Some programs are designed as "conversion" degrees, meaning they are open to students without a previous degree in psychology.
