Master of Science in Economics (Full Time)


Programme Outline


Duration: This programme runs for 2 semesters


Entry requirements: The programme is open to candidates with:


(a)    Bachelor’s degree with minimum of Second Class Lower in Economics or related fields such as: Agricultural Economics, Finance, Banking & Finance and Economics Education from the University of Lagos or any other recognised University.

(b)   Postgraduate Diploma in Economics of the University of Lagos.

    To be admitted into the Unilag Master of Science in Economics (Full Time) program, you need a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university, five 'O' level credits including English Language and Mathematics, and a degree in a relevant discipline. You must also be eligible for a selection process, submit all academic transcripts and NYSC certificate, and not be currently enrolled in another postgraduate program. 
    General and academic requirements
    • Bachelor's Degree: A first degree from the University of Lagos or any other approved university, with a minimum of a Second Class Lower division.
    • 'O' Level Credits: Five credit passes at the GCE O/Level, SSCE/WASC, or NECO, which must include English Language, Mathematics, and Economics plus any other two relevant subjects, all at not more than two sittings.
    • Other Qualifications: Other recognized qualifications such as professional certifications (like ACA, ACIA, ACIS, ACIB, CIPM) can be an advantage, notes unilagadmissionsmadeeasy.com. https://applications.unilag.edu.ng/
    • Professional Qualifications: For those with professional qualifications, an added advantage may be given.
    • HND Holders: Holders of a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least an upper credit may also be considered, provided they meet the 'O' Level requirements. 
    Application and other requirements
    • Application: Applicants must complete and submit the online application form by the specified deadline.
    • Transcripts and Certificates: Academic transcripts and the NYSC certificate must be submitted to the School of Postgraduate Studies.
    • Selection Process: Applicants will be required to pass a selection process, which may include written and/or oral examinations.
    • Ineligibility: Those awaiting results, currently enrolled in other postgraduate programs, or who have degrees from outreach/satellite campuses are not eligible.
    • Eligibility: You must be eligible for the specific program and satisfy the requirements of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
