THE EFFECT OF SAROSATE (N-PHOSPHONOMETHYL GLYCINE) A NON SELECTIVE HERBICIDE ON THE GROWTH OF SOME COMMON SOIL FUNGI

ABSTRACT

Sarasote, a widely used herbicide, has been linked to concerns about its impact on soil health and ecosystem function. This study investigated the effects of sarosate on soil fungi growth and development, susceptibility of soil fungi to sarosate, and potential consequences of sarosate use on soil ecosystems. The results showed that sarosate has a significant negative impact on soil fungi growth and development, and some soil fungi species are more susceptible to sarosate than others. Additionally, sarosate use has significant potential consequences for soil ecosystems, including changes in soil microbial communities and nutrient cycling. The study's findings suggest that sarosate use can have significant negative consequences for soil health and ecosystem function, and highlight the need for sustainable soil management practices that minimize the use of sarosate and promote soil health. The study's results have important implications for agricultural practices, soil conservation, and environmental policy.
