INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Poultry manure, a byproduct of the poultry industry, is a valuable source of organic fertilizer that can contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. With the increasing demand for food production and the need for environmentally friendly farming methods, utilizing organic fertilizers such as poultry manure has gained significant attention. One promising application of poultry manure is in the cultivation of Terfera (Trifolium repens L.), a leguminous forage crop widely used in livestock production systems.
Terfera is highly valued for its nutritional composition, which includes high levels of protein, vitamins, and minerals. It serves as a valuable feed source for livestock, providing essential nutrients for growth and milk production. To maximize the productivity and quality of Terfera, farmers often rely on synthetic chemical fertilizers. However, the excessive and indiscriminate use of these fertilizers can lead to environmental degradation and negative impacts on soil health.
The utilization of organic fertilizers, such as poultry manure, offers a sustainable alternative that can address these concerns. Poultry manure is rich in essential nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, along with organic matter. Its application to agricultural soils can improve soil fertility, enhance nutrient availability, and promote the growth and development of crops.
Several studies have investigated the effects of poultry manure on the growth and yield of various crops, including cereals, vegetables, and forage crops. However, limited research has been conducted specifically on the influence of poultry manure on Terfera production. Understanding the impact of poultry manure on the growth and yield of Terfera is crucial for optimizing its cultivation practices and ensuring sustainable forage production in livestock systems.
This study aims to evaluate the effect of poultry manure on the growth and yield parameters of Terfera. By comparing different application rates of poultry manure with a control (no fertilizer) and a chemical fertilizer treatment, we can assess the potential benefits and determine the optimal dose for maximizing Terfera productivity. Additionally, this research will explore the influence of poultry manure on soil fertility and nutrient content, providing insights into the overall sustainability of poultry manure application in Terfera cultivation.
