ABSTRACT

This study “The Effect of computerization in the growth of Nigeria economy” (A case study of selected manufacturing companies in Enugu North L.G.A). Centres on the impact of computerization on Nigeria economy.  It is on record that greatest advancement has been made in the filed of computer, computer has reached the door step of every home and office even in Enugu metropolis, yet many organizations are yet to adopt to it. Therefore, the objective of this study is to establish the degree of impact of computerization on Nigeria economy. To achieve this objective, this work was divided into chapters which includes chapter one to chapter five.  Chapter one is the introduction, of computer, while chapter two deals with the definitions of computer, the historical concepts and the effect of computerizing an organization chapter three descries the Design of the study, Area and population of the study e.t.c the total number of (70) was used as the population size, while simple percentage (%) was adopted as instrument for measuring and analysing the data collected.  In chapter four it was discovered that the impact of computerization on the economic development is positive. Consequently, (i) it was recommended that the government should formulate and implement policies which can encourage the total computerization of corporate organization , secondly corporate organisation should ensure that full advantage of computerization should be tapped, thirdly that people should try to be computer literate though computer training to enhance their employment opportunity and finally corporate policy and structure should not be allowed to influence effective and efficiency of computerization.
